The new competition celebrating the best riders aged 18 and under has started in Ile-de-France. Haras de Jardy and Bost Stables (Barbizon) have welcomed these first two stages that will select the 8 young people who will have the chance to step on the track of the Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping 2018, on July 6th.
At the age of 14, Louna Garo, daughter of Gwenaël and Nathalie Garo (owners of Élevage du Cyan) already has a good track record. A pony since always, she began the competition at the age of 6 and now juggles between the circuit As ponies and champion of France amateur 2. She gives us her first impressions of the Stars of Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping with the Ile-de-France.
Hello Louna, can you introduce yourself in a few words?
I'm 14 years old and I'm riding since I was 4 years old. I am in college, I have just some subjects at CNED to have my afternoons free. I turn on the national and international circuit riding on 135 / 140cm and pony on 125 / 130cm.
What are your goals this season?
Being as regular as possible on horse and pony, but I think more focus on the championships of France and maybe the ponies European championships this year.
What does this new competition for EYE Stars represent for you with the Ile-de-France Region?
I find it really great for us juniors to be able to participate in such a prestigious competition and to be able to mount a track like that of Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping! It's really a great chance we have, especially at our age.
With your first two places, your qualification is assured. Your first impressions?
I was already very happy to have done without fault to Jardy and to have won the first qualifying event, I did not think I was going to win also that of Barbizon. There were more juniors and it was my first 140cm with my mare (ndlr Valse A Villers, the couple finishes 6th of the race and 1st of the challenge). I am really happy and can not wait to be there!
Thank you Louna and congratulations again! We will meet our stars April 28th at the CSI Mantes-la-Jolie.
